Finally there is an easy solution for retrofitting 8′ T8HO and T12HO fluorescent lamps. Commonly found in sign lighting among other commercial applications, T8HO and T12HO fluorescent lamps have an R17d double recessed contact base. Trying to retrofit these fixtures with standard LED T8 lamps can be troublesome, particularly in fixtures where changing the socket to standard non-shunted can be difficult if not impossible.

Keystone’s 8′ Direct Drive 54W LED T8 is the ideal solution for these applications, as it comes with the R17d base for easy installation. These 8′ LED T8 tubes bypass the ballast and wire direct to the fixture (double-end power). Available in 5000K and 6500K and designed with a sturdy plastic construction.

Is this lamp (t8ho) 8 foot rated for outdoor in an open fixture with a top shield?

I installed one KT-LED54T8-96P to try. The CCT color is too harsh, rated at 3000K-5000K, but the effect is 5000K or even higher. Can you supply direct drive 8’ T8 HO bulbs with LEDs at the 3000K end of that range?

      Peter,

8′ LED tubes are rare, and demand for 3000K or 3500K in 8′ is even more rare. Keystone does not have one and I am not sure of any other manufacturer that would have them in that color temp (possibly unreliable direct from China options).

Your best option might be to get an 8′ Retrofit Kit that would change your 8′ two-lamp fixture to accommodate 4′ 4-lamp. There are 3000K 4′ LED T8 options so that may be a better bet. Or a new fixture in 3000K-3500K.
