Premier Lighting Case Study: Mercury Vapor Retrofit to LED

orono-woods

Customer Profile:

If you are looking for true community spirit, a sense of belonging and a place where everybody knows your name, Orono Woods is just for you. Nestled in the woods bordering Orono and Long Lake, just off Wayzata Boulevard, this exceptional apartment community for those ages 55 and older offers the peace and tranquility of small town living with city conveniences, such as dining and shopping in nearby Wayzata.

Goal:

Premier did a comprehensive audit for Orono Woods to find viable LED replacements for the entire facility from inside to out. One of the main areas of concern was the underground parking garage. The 175W Mercury Vapor fixtures were not only inefficient but left it severely underlit. They were hoping to find an LED replacement that would brighten the garage up to make it safer and easier to see. Premier suggested a durable 4′ LED Vaportight fixture that could replace the Mercury Vapor fixtures one-for-one.

Mercury vapor lamps offer a number of benefits, including a relatively long lamp life when compared to traditional incandescents, as well as the capability of emitting very clear, intense white light.

Do you need to switch out the breakers as well as doing the bypass when you switch from mercury vapor to LED? Or is doing the bypass sufficient? Thanks.

The tubbing is removed on the LED lights so there is no light obstruction, bad pictures to paint the MV’s as bad lights. Let the people decide what they want to light their property with. But if you are going to make a comparison, take them with the same background next time. I wouldnt have banned the MV lights, let the people and the market decide.
