For over 50 years, quality builders have relied on Littfin’s to provide them with all of their engineered wood product needs. By using state-of-the-art technology in engineering software and manufacturing equipment, Littfin has become one of the largest truss plants in the nation.

Goal:

Littfin’s lumberyard in Howard Lake, MN utilized 1000W high pressure sodium fixtures to provide light to the exterior. Their goal was to find a suitable LED replacement that could provide better lighting while using less energy. They also wanted an improved color rendering light source compared to the yellow color given off by the high pressure sodium bulbs.

Solution:

Upon analyzing the existing outdoor lighting and potential LED options, Premier concluded that the forty 1000W HPS fixtures could be replaced with new 300W LED Area Lights 1-for-1. These LED fixtures were rated at 100,000 hours, ensuring long-term maintenance on these 65+ foot poles would be minimal.

Results:

Littfin replaced all 40 HPS fixtures at 1100 watts per fixture with 300W LED Area Lights, resulting in over 70% in energy savings. Despite the drastic energy cut, light levels improved over 10%. The light quality and color improved security and efficiency. Rebates trimmed off 33% of the up front cost, helping them reach payback in a little over 3 years.
