GE has just released a 165W LED retrofit lamp that replaces expensive and inefficient 400W HID lamps. Install is simple; no complicated rewiring necessary as it screws into the existing fixture and reuses the ballast. Lamp can be mounted vertically or horizontally. Over 55% in energy savings as well as better light quality and 2.5x longer lifespan (50,000 hours vs. 20,000 hours). Environmentally friendly lamp that is RoHS compliant and contains no mercury or lead.

    Is this bulb still available. Did the recall simply effect sold bulbs and the new ones no longer have the separation problem?

      Our list price on this GE 21259 bulb is $214.95 and yes it does use the existing metal halide ballast/transformer.

    Interested in replacing our tennis courts lights in our neighborhood with these, currently in aluminum cone type housing …with external ballast..Would these be suitable for tennis courts, or is there a bulb that works better?
