Customer Profile:

A lot has changed since the summer of 1914. Richfield was little more than a farming area at the time. There were no sidewalks and no paved streets.  The truck farmers who lived in the area raised garden vegetables.  Wagons and horses created a pathway from farm to market.  The little village of Richfield was starting to grow and soon there was a need to develop a new Lutheran church in the area. One thing hasn’t changed – RLC continues to be a strong center for faith and community in the Windom neighborhood of South Minneapolis.  We have lived through over a century of change and continue to do so today.

Goal:

Richfield Lutheran was referred to Premier by another area church. In having seen great results in light output and lower utility costs there, they were hoping to do the same with their sanctuary. There was some trepidation about how the new LED bulbs would perform with the existing (older) Lutron dimming system so this was a key aspect to analyze ahead of retrofitting all the lamps.

All sanctuary fixtures were retrofitted to LED, from incandescent bulbs in hanging pendants to downlights and alter spots which were replaced with high output LED PAR38 and A19 lamps. With the focus on ensuring dimming was ideal, a Lutron rep was brought on site and confirmed that the new LED lamps would dim well on the existing dimming system with no phase adapt module needed. Richfield Lutheran was also able to take advantage of the Minneapolis Green Cost Share program which provided a grant towards the project for added savings. Energy was reduced by nearly 80% and they were very pleased with the results.
