Premier Lighting Case Study: Custom Church LED Lighting

Catholic Church Lighting

Customer Profile:

For over 150 years, St. Michael Catholic Church has been serving the St. Michael, MN area with an orthodox faith centered on prayer, service and Sacramental life.

Goal:

St. Michael Catholic Church was looking for a new LED lighting solution that would result in energy and maintenance savings while maintaining or bettering their sanctuary’s light output.

Assessment:

The sanctuary lighting was comprised of high watt incandescent bulbs. 500 Watt PAR56 lamps were being used in the sanctuary cans and spotlights. The sanctuary low ceiling cans and tracklights were outfit with 250W PAR and 85W PAR bulbs respectively. These provided a fair amount of light but were very inefficient. To compound matters they did not last long and were difficult to replace, particularly the PAR56 lamps high up.

Solution:

While replacing the energy-draining incandescent bulbs was obvious, finding an LED solution to put out comparable light for the application was not so simple. This is where Premier Lighting’s experience with custom Church LED lighting solutions was put to the test. Custom LED retrofit kits were deployed that were a perfect replacement for all the application areas within the sanctuary.

Results:

In conjunction with the energy savings and rebate, St. Michael Catholic Church was able to reach pay-back in just over a year. Their annual energy savings are set at over 93%. The new custom LED lights that were installed are warrantied for a number of years, meaning they also get to side-step replacing the incandescent bulbs in hard to reach areas.

Summary:

  • Reduced Energy Usage
  • Increased Light Quality
  • Increased Light Levels
  • Longer Lasting Products = Reduced Maintenance Costs
  • Light Level and Color Uniformity
  • Enhanced Image

Greetings from Temple First Church of the Nazarene, Temple TX!

There don’t seem to be a lot of aesthetically pleasing led fixtures to replace some par38’s we have mounted over our sanctuary stage, without breaking the bank and our remodeling budget. I was just wondering if it was possible to retrofit those existing fixtures and also have dmx control. Thanks!

We do work for a number of churches in our community and one customer recently inquired about retrofitting led into existing cathedral par56 housings. This particular church has an existing automated lighting control rack from the mid 90s, alpha dim I believe the dimming modules are so the led lamps would have to be compatable with a triac dimming system and within a 27 to 30k color temperature. The par56 s are the bi pin style and the existing housing would have to stay for aesthetic and structural reasons so just a lamp swap out would be amazing.

I am a licensed electrician looking for a direct LED replacement to a NSP or narrow spot in a PAR 56 preferable with a blade style mogul base 300 watt equivalent to replace a standard PAR 56 300 watt lamp. Do you offer as such?

    Thanks,

    Andrew

I am the pastor of St. Mary Catholic Church in Caldwell. Our church has about 25 can fixtures using PAR56 500W light bulbs. We would like to switch to LED bulbs using the same fixture. Could you help us?

We would like to replace our current Par 56 300 watt bulbs with LED’s to reduce the amount of heat generated by the current bulbs and reduce the changing of bulbs. There are currently 36 fixtures that are 20 to 30 feet above the floor that are on a lighting control console that can dim the fixtures. Can you help?

    Thanks Richard Deardorff

I am trying to find an LED solution to the current problem at a church. We currently have (60) Par 64 Cans (black) in an open style (black) ceiling. They are approx. 25′ high and are using 500 watt incandescent. They are connected to dimmers and controlled by a lighting console at the audio booth. I have not been able to find a company that could supply a dimmable LED bulb for anything larger than a par 38. Do you have an option?

looking at replacing existing lighting with LED’s. Have a total of 77 par 56 500 watt bulbs at about 40 ft height, 17 par 56 300 watt bulbs at height of 30 to 35 ft, and 125 par 38 bulbs at heights between 10 and 20 ft

Are your LED replacements dimmable, smoothly to 0% with ETC dimmers?

I’m looking for 88 of the PAR56 LED.

  14. Richard BirdDecember 30, 2019 at 3:04 pm #

I currently have (13) PAR250 ceiling lights in the front of my sanctuary. Typical center-peaked vaulted ceiling, 30 ft at the center and around 18 ft at the sidewalls. I’d like to replace the PAR250’s with LED’s but am concerned with getting the correct “warmth” and lumens of course. I also am looking forward to greater longevity of the LED’s so I can stop climbing a 30 ft ladder leaned against the ceiling to replace PAR’s :-). I’d appreciate any guidance you could offer. Thank you.
