5 Types of Solar LED Lights from Light Efficient Design / Solera

LED Solar lights have been growing in popularity in recent years as more commercial-grade options are available and costs are lowering. They are especially useful in areas where there is no current lighting and running electricity is cost-prohibitive. One of the top commercial brands in Solar Lighting is Solera, a subsidiary of Light Efficient Design. Let’s check out their options:

Hybrid Solar 50W LED Area Light

Solera’s Hybrid Solar technology combines the power of Solar with line-voltage to provide a unique outdoor offering that will power bright LED area lights 365 days a year. Their Hybrid 365 series has an intelligent control module that ensures the fixture will be powered by cost-free solar power and then only when the battery is depleted will it begin to utilize line-voltage to maintain the light. Default operating setting is dusk-to-dawn with 80% light the first 2 hours, 50% constant the rest of the way but up to 80% again when motion is sensed. Slip-fitter bracket included with purchase, various other Pole Brackets & Tenon Brackets are available. More info or to purchase – SL-SAL-HYB-50W-40K-SF-BK-G1.

Solera Solar LED Mini-Wallpack

This neat little wallpack gives you a fully solar 20W LED Wallpack for under $100! Completely off-grid solar meaning no rewiring/trenching. All-in-one design with the panel, battery and LED light engine all built right into the fixture. At 20W 2000 lumens this can replace up to 150W HID sources. Three operating modes; PIR motion sensor based, timer based or full brightness. There is also an LED light indicator on the wallpack showing how many nights are remaining on the current charge. Solera/BreezEV EV-Ready Solar LED Flood

This LED Flood is associated with two emerging technologies; Solar and EV-Charging. Specifically designed for use with the BreezEV Level 2 EV Charging units as this Solar LED Flood is easily bolted in-the-field to the top cap of the BreezEV Cable Management pedestal EVC-L2-ACC-BB. This makes it a more cost-effective option compared to having to add additional light poles near charging stations, plus saving on energy on the lights ensures there is more energy available for the EV charging stations. At 20W 2000 lumens this is equivalent to a 150W HID source. Panel, LED light engine and battery are all on board. Standard operating mode for this floodlight is 100% brightness for 4 hours and then 25% for the remainder of the night with one charge. More info or to purchase – EVC-SFL-20W-40K-BK-G2

There you have it. These are just some of the offerings from Solera / Light Efficient design. They also have fully off-grid Solar LED Area lights, Solar LED Step Lights, Solar LED Bollards and more! You can check them all out here – Solera LED Solar Lighting. Stay tuned as this new tech continues to gain traction.

One thing worth discussing with Solar Lighting, especially as it pertains to our particular area here in Minnesota. Naturally in colder climates like our’s, there are some limitations in winter months. Most of Solera’s Solar LED fixtures are designed to illuminate a given area prominently the first 2-4 hours which will be limited in the winter as the batteries do not like the cold. For the fully off-grid solutions, when below 32 Degrees Fahrenheit the battery goes into protection mode. It will still be able to operate but the light time will be reduced during this period. Ultimately these solar products will still provide sufficient light most of the year but in colder climates due to the limitations of the battery should not be used in lighting critical applications. As always if you have any questions on the lights or would like a quote, contact Premier Lighting today.
