Art Gallery of Ontario PAR56 and MR16 LED Retrofit

Ever since the commercial LED boom nearly 10 years ago, Premier Lighting has been a leader in providing unique high ceiling LED retrofit solutions to churches, school, art centers and auditoriums. We started in our local area of St. Paul/Minneapolis and as word grew online eventually we have hit every state in the US as well as our friends in Canada, Mexico and overseas. Turns out everyone is looking for LED retrofits that can not only be energy saving but also hit all the key performance aspects for these applications such as dimming and color rendering.

Recently the Art Gallery of Ontario reached out to Premier about their PAR56 lights. It is tougher and tougher to find all the different incandescent PAR56 and PAR64 lamps in the various configurations – NSP PAR56’s, WFL PAR56’s, etc. Often they are referred to as car headlight bulbs due to their immense size and look. The big key is always how the LED replacements will perform when dimming and also how the color/beam spread will look when replacing legacy PAR bulbs.

Green Creative LED PAR56 & PAR64 bulbs are top of the line in quality and the market leader currently. For years we used custom LED retrofits and still do in some scenarios that make sense, like when the customer wants a higher kelvin option (GC only comes in 2700K-3000K). Of the true 1-for-1 GX16d PAR56/64 replacements, Green Creative’s lamps are unmatched. The 92 CRI on these lamps results in an astounding look and feel, even more valuable in a setting like an art gallery to best-illuminate the work. The dimming is crisp and flicker-free. At 40W or 50W, they can replace either 300W or 500W PAR 64 or PAR 56 bulbs with 15 Degree, 25 Degree and 40 Degree beam spreads available.

As always, the manufacturer matters. You can find cheap LED PAR56 lamps sold online by direct-from-China vendors, but good luck with the warranty process when something goes wrong (if they provide a warranty at all). Green Creative has been around for many years as a commercial lighting vendor and has an easy 5-year warranty-support program. They create high-end lights so chances are you won’t need the warranty aspect but it is comforting to invest in a high performance lighting system that is backed by a reputable manufacturer.

AGO liked the LED PAR56 lights so much they wanted to check into replacing other spot lights, namely their GU5.3 MR16 lamps. Green Creative’s Refine Series LED MR16 lamps have the same high CRI and dimming performance qualities that their PAR56 lamps boast, so those were picked up as well as some color-shift/beam spreader lenses to add onto the MR16.

On top of that, Premier can also find the weird legacy bulbs that you may have a hard time sourcing. The Art Gallery needed some T6 metal halide projector bulbs and we had the Philips CDM70-T6-830 lamps ready to go. If there is a will there is a way, and our relationship with numerous vendors over the last 30 years has allowed us to quickly find sources for the strangest lights that you may have thought are no longer available!

We are always happy to provide insight and answer any questions you may have, so if you have a similar application or need help with any kinds of lights please reach out to Premier today.
