The Ultimate in Commercial LED Downlights: Keystone Advanta

For some time Keystone had teased that a Recessed Downlight line was coming and it has trickled in Q1 of 2022. The early returns on Keystone’s recessed downlights are that it is a comprehensive line that checks all the boxes in terms of features and styles, from retrofit trims to commercial downlights and emergency battery backup built-in.

Due to the breadth of downlight releases and styles, this article focuses on the Keystone Advanta line. Keystone Advanta is a complete Recessed Commercial Downlight fixture that are already very popular in retrofit situations but also can be used in new construction as well.

Breaking it down further, the Keystone Advanta downlight comes in three main styles; standard Advanta with an integrated driver, AdvantaRMT which is a downlight operated by a remote driver, and AdvantaEMRG which has built-in emergency battery back-up. Advanta comes in 6″, 8″ and 10″ cans while the AdvantaRMT line comes in 4″, 6″, 8″, 10″ and the AdvantaEMRG line comes in 6″ and 8″. Nearly the entire line is 0-10V dimmable standard yet they do have a 120V TRIAC dimming LED downlight with the AdvantaRMT, making it a good option for dimming on existing systems with no rewiring needed.

All Advanta downlights come with power-select/color-select technology built in, taking the guesswork out of color temps and all have three light levels to choose from. Gone are the days of having to return items based on needing a different color. Standard Advanta comes in either 2700K-3500K-5000K or 3000K-3500K-4000K for CCT selectability. The AdvantaRMT line allows for 2700K-3000K-3500K-4000K-5000K on one fixture thanks to the driver being installed remotely. There are also standard 80 CRI downlights as well as 90 CRI downlights for applications where high-end color rendering is needed.

AdvantaEMRG has been a real boon in terms of providing an affordable yet simple way to change out fluorescent emergency can lighting to an LED downlight with Emergency backup. Previously it was rare to find an LED downlight that had the option for emergency backup, which led to having to try to pair a new LED downlight with someone else’s emergency battery backup and hope it was compatible. Again the Keystone AdvantaEMRG takes the guesswork out of the equation as the Keystone downlight comes with Keystone’s own SmartSafe emergency battery backup already hooked up to the fixture and powered by a Keystone driver to boot. Test switch is built on the visible end of the downlight to signal it’s presence and make it easy to test functionality in the future.

Need a downlight trim or goof ring? Keystone has those too in various sizes, along with other downlight accessories like mounting plates. Trims come in bronze, brushed nickel or matte black.

All these options at a great price and backed by Keystone’s renowned warranty and support. Now there is no excuse to continue to operate pin-base CFL lamps!
